Not that I plan on making this a music review blog, but anything I please goes in this category. This pleases me. I met these guys downtown Vancouver, a couple dedicated young musicians flogging their homemade CD. I took one disc and handed one of the pair ten bucks.
The Rising Heat, as they go by, is one part blues, one part punk, with smatterings of thrash, ska, and sludge. Obviously self-produced, the CD had no indication of a band name at all, never mind a track listing or any contact information. That's bad marketing as far as I'm concerned; a missed opportunity. As far the the content on the disc: I really like it. It's raw, eclectic, personal and energetic.
I wish these guys lots of luck in their endeavour, they are obviously committed. I would love to walk into a bar and see them rocking out on stage.
